Did you know that you can work and still keep your Social Security disability benefits?
We can help you understand how to increase financial independence with WIPA — the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance program (locally known as Benefits to Work).
WIPA is a step-by-step process that assists people with disabilities who receive benefits from Social Security in understanding how employment will affect their Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and other benefits they may receive.
A Community Work Incentives Coordinator (CWIC) — of which we have five — can assist you with the development of a Work Incentives Plan so you can make the best use of the many options available to support your employment goals.
If you are considering going back to work, working for the first time, or even starting your own business and want to learn more about how work will impact your benefits, call the Ticket to Work call center at 866-968-7842. They are your first source for information regarding your situation. If needed, they will make a referral to our WIPA staff for one-on-one, local support.
Our WIPA program covers 40 counties in Middle and West Tennessee with staff located in Nashville, Jackson, and Memphis.
Our CWICs have a combined 60 years of experience in providing Social Security related services. They each have received extensive training and annual continuing education in Work Incentives and are knowledgeable about national and state benefits.
Each year, our WIPA program empowers over 500 people with disabilities in making informed choices about how work will impact their benefits.
